Nevada Museum of Art Acquires Work by David Maisel

The Nevada Museum of Art has acquired David Maisel’s Desolation Desert, Tailings Pond 1 (2018), a print from his Desolation Desert series. Created through aerial photography of mining operations in Chile’s Atacama Desert, the work examines the environmental impact of copper and lithium extraction, continuing Maisel’s investigation of human-altered landscapes and the complex relationship between industrial development and ecological change.
