David Maisel is featured in Beneath the Surface: Mining and American Photography, a group exhibition at the National Gallery of Art that explores the historical and ongoing relationship between photography and resource extraction. The exhibition brings together works spanning 185 years of photographic practice, reflecting on environmental impact, industrial scale, and the visual strategies used to represent extraction and its consequences. Organized by the National Gallery of Art in collaboration with the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.
