Faded Elegance: Photographs of Havana

September 8 – December 31, 2011 | Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Oklahoma City

Organized by the Oklahoma City Museum of Art and curated by Alison Amick, Faded Elegance: Photographs of Havana presents a group of large-scale color photographs by Michael Eastman made between 1999 and 2010. The exhibition focuses on Havana’s architectural interiors and urban surfaces, examining the effects of time, climate, and economic conditions on the built environment. Bringing together images of domestic spaces, public sites, and abstract details, the show explores how material decay and preservation register broader cultural and historical change.
