The Brooklyn Museum, New York, has received a significant donation of photographs by Lillian Bassman, made possible through the generosity of Lizzie and Eric Himmel. Anchored by Anne Saint Marie, New York, 1958, a platinum print by Bassman, the gift includes a total of twenty-six works by Bassman and Paul Himmel. This important addition expands the Museum’s photography holdings while honoring Bassman’s lasting influence on twentieth-century fashion photography and her enduring legacy as a Brooklyn-born artist.
