Nothing Gold Can Stay: Photographs of Childhood

On view at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Nothing Gold Can Stay presents a moving exploration of childhood and adolescence through nearly 20 photographs selected from a recent gift by collector Joseph Baio. The exhibition includes works by Elliott Erwitt, Diane Arbus, William Eggleston, Dawoud Bey, Issei Suda, Emmet Gowin, and others, spanning the 19th century to today. Curated by Dr. Sarah Kennel, the show takes its title from a Robert Frost poem, meditating on the fragile, fleeting nature of youth.

The exhibition runs from May 2, 2025 – October 5, 2025.
