Museum of Fine Arts Houston Acquires Work by Vera Lutter

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston has acquired a unique photograph by Vera Lutter, made during her time working inside the Brooklyn Clock Tower. Using the space as a large-scale pinhole camera, Lutter captured a reversed and mirrored view of the city through the building’s clock face. The resulting image reflects her ongoing exploration of time, perception, and the material possibilities of analog photography.

The acquisition follows the museum’s 2015–16 exhibition Vera Lutter: Inverted Worlds, which introduced Houston audiences to the artist’s distinctive process and monumental scale. The work will be included in an upcoming rotation in the Kinder Building galleries.
