Paolo Ventura on the cover of Italian Vogue

Paolo Ventura was invited by Vogue Italy to create their first illustrated cover ever. The magazine wanted to make a statement about sustainability by producing its January issue without photographs.

The magazine’s first issue of 2020 will instead feature illustrated stories and a series of hand-drawn covers created “without traveling, shipping clothes or polluting in any way.”
Responsible for this great inititative was Italian edition’s editor-in-chief Emanuele Farneti.  The money saved in the production of this issue will go towards financing the restoration of @FondazioneQueriniStampalia in Venice, severely damaged by the recent floods. Artists invited were among Paolo Ventura, USA artist David Salle, Vanessa Beecroft, Cassi Namoda, Milo Manara, Delphine Desane and Yoshitaka Amano. Ventura’s gift was his illustration of the young Dutch supermodel Felice Nova Noordhoff, drawn in Gucci.
